Hey guys.

Name is jemer. 26. Just got a 2016 trek x caliber 9 650b.
It's been 20 years since I've ridden a bike. So far I've enjoyed test riding this bike. Hope to get better for fitness and self enjoyment in mtbiking.

First mtb. I got recommended here by someone in mtb forums.
Tried hitting up Bonita bikers on Facebook but they're not taking any new members.

I just wanted to see if there are any other riders around socal...Chula Vista or close.

Will be trying out a few trails in Otay lakes and some other trails.

Anyone here in socal ?
Here's my bike.

Welcome to the forum

Try this site for trails wherever you ride: http://www.mtbproject.com/

There are quite a few southbay riders here and should chime in soon. I think Performance bikes also holds shop rides plus there's Meetup.com to join group rides too.

There is usually a group ride out of Performance parking lot Sunday mornings, 8am maybe. They used to have 2 groups head out, beginner and intermediate. Checked their site and looks like the ride is on Saturdays.

You have a lot of options down there. Explore and ride as much as you can. You will start seeing familiar faces on the trails as a result, and those are the ones you want to ride with. Get familiar with Otay, H/J street, and sweetwater. If you need specific routes, PM me, and I'll send you some good loops from 3 miles to you name it.

I wanted to recommend this to the OP but I don't know the latest on the access to dirt south of In-N-Out along Eastlake Pkwy (new development)? Can anyone chime in? This screen grab from Strava is from a 2013 ride (thanks Baja!).
