Yeah here's a sequence shot, not one stalled out on top.

So does one go about clearing that? Do you just hang your ass off the back and pray?

Funny, the rock looks so much bigger in Aqua's picture...! Anyhow, I know this is the FU button thread, but I can't resist the 911 roll picture. I've seen many pictures and sequences of it, but never been there. I think it would be a case of fatal attraction for me...it's just looks so damn do-able! The physics is all there -- shouldn't be too difficult -- look at that perfectly curved roll-out ramp at the bottom, and plenty of run-out. There even seems to be sort of a dihedral groove to follow down --(but maybe watch out for the split at the bottom!?). It looks like the roll-in might not be straight on, that could be an opportunity to screw it up -- cuz if your front wheel's not straight when you hit the ramp at the bottom, it's 911 all right. So guys who've done it, just drop in straight and roll it thru? I guess swallowing hard, or praying if you're that type, might be unavoidable, at least the first few times.

If that 911 roller was made of super smooth concrete, I could do it on my skateboard. Since it's not, and I'm on my bike, I'd probably puss out.

Me too, but every once in a while I have a great day and surprise myself with what I will and can do!

I'd probably try to go up it.

There used to be a spot like that at the bottom of ted williams but it was dirt so pretty wide (same height and angle though). I don't know if it is still there but if it is might be a good place to get started if it is.

There's one that is about 3 times bigger and steeper with a very difficult drop to the transition at the bottom at TW.

Yea TW has changed alot over the years. The spot I am talking about was pretty easy once I got up the huevos. Then I did it like ten times feeling like I was the king of all cool shit until like five 10 year olds just jumped it. There was a small mound of dirt that apparently was a landing ramp.

I know just what you're talking about Quad.

The transition on 911 looks a lot better in those pics than it was when I went.

Most pics of the 911 Roll don't tell the whole story. The inspiration of the 911 roll came from the SplitRock at Ted Willy.

But, I wanted to add a twist, so to speak.

The 911 roll has a narrow dirt bridge to get you up on top of that meatball, and then you must turn sharply right at the apex, and drop in. What's a mindfuck, is that you are turning as you drop in. Waaay sketchier than it looks in the pics.

Here's the thread from MTBR showing when the 911 roll was built. T=You can see the transition, it's the turn on the top, that you need to setup for.
