A long time ago I would ride mission trails after a rain. How will it be tomorrow?

North of the 52 handles water well, but you might want to give it another day -- it has been raining steadily, and almost constantly, here since last night.

On some of the "trails" (roads) they spread this incredibly fine gray dirt that turns to slime upon contact with water. I recall the top of E-Ticket and the bottom of S-Curves had this in unavoidable quantity.

Also, the utility road just south of 52 leading to Spring Canyon may have some nasty soil content. I had my tires load up pretty bad a couple days after a rain on that road, but that was years ago.

It is supposed to rain through tomorrow. Probably best to give it till Wednesday.

.... or thursday. That mud is thick and doesn't dry very quick.

80% chance of rain today, and it looks like 80%, 50 % chance tonight, and 30% chance tomorrow.
I'd give at least until Thursday.

So far, we have almost an inch to 1.5" of rain from this system.
That's a lot of mud.

so, unless you wanna point to some deep tire ruts in dried mud this June and proclaim, "I did that!", I suggest some pavement riding for a bit.

Exactly...Please stay off the trails for at least three days. Those ruts really suck.

Well that sounds like a double dare.
I just got the mud machine ready.
Don't worry I have my own trails to enjoy.

Actually, the face (west side fire road) of Black Mtn. in PQ is rideable after a rain. Virtually all rock/gravel with a few puddles on the lower part that are easily avoided.

True.

Cowles is another that drains well and quicker than most.

Yeah. I've ridden that during the rain a few times. When I get the jones to ride and it's pouring out, that's the one location that I know that cannot get messed up by tire tracks.

I rode Missing Trails about 4 days after a rain and that main "trail" going under the freeway was a soupy mess. Not worth it for me any time soon

Yeah, in Temecula, what mud?
So bummed the rain stopped as I pulled up on the trail head yesterday. I wanted a full blown deluge in trying out my new front fender. Ugh/

Soooooooooooo nice to get back on the saddle again. Almost healed.
