After riding the exciting fire road last Sunday at DMM, there will be many placing for the fairy shrimp to live. Some of those nicely created tire tracks are over two feet deep. ....and their are worried about bike tires....

It's funny, too, that scientists have determined that the tires rolling through one vernal pool after another actually help spread genetic material for the shrimp, increasing their survival chances by increasing genetic diversity. As we all know, several of those vernal pools now protected were initially formed by truck tire ruts. In the past the shrimps survival and genetic diversity was dependent upon animal footprints through the pools.....now it's SDG&E trucks! Of course bicycle tires perform no beneficial actions at all.....they only DESTROY the little shrimps! |
