Since our Mammoth trip, I have been promising the boys a bike ride around the neighborhood. I finally got out of work early enough and it was cool enough to put a few miles in. Tonight’s destination was a little Arch extra credit of years past.

The boys got to find out first had that when you are not at a resort, the only way to pay for the downhill is to earn it with a climb.

Once at the top of the hill we tootled around the upper loop regaining some of the skill they learned on the features a little more than a month ago. My, oh my, they got rusty fast. After a second lap, they started to look more comfortable.

So off to the single track we go. There are lots of challenging features that I usually don’t give a second thought to. Now when I am looking at the rock gardens and bridges in their eyes, I can see why it might be a bit intimidating. They handled them like champs.

We came to the turn off and round we went

It is nice to know that there is land out there that is not subject to eminent closure and part of an established park that embraces bike riders.

Finally, we cross a few elegantly and brilliantly designed culvert bridges to start the trip back home.

Total loop was about 5 miles. Nothing too bad but they were feeling it by the end.

FYI, progress on the Camino Del Sur bridge is coming along but the clearance seems a little low.

Looks like a great time. Those small and smallish wheels make all the rocks feel bigger -- they absolutely did handle those obstacles like champs.

Haven't you heard about the latest thing? Big wheels are SOOO last month. 20' and 24" are the new norm.

Super post, BB. As to that Camino Del Sur bridge, maybe that's a possibility for a new 'Tunnel' trail right there!

Tunnel #6! (Completely legit, of course.....)

Nice! That extra credit section is not easy; lots of embedded rocks and off-camber stuff. Kudos to your little shredders.

You really seem to like those small bridges. Wonder who the brilliant designer was

Nice riding by the little guys. There is a penalty for failure in a couple spots since my sons buddy found out after 35 stitches

Great pics. Brings back memories of riding with my two boys when they were that age. That is until they became cranky teenagers.
