So was that right -- Doug had two Captains with torn sidewalls on this trip?
No, Doug's tires just seem to have an issue w/ rock. Both he and I had Ardent 2.4 on both our RIP9s. Day one in Prescott he manages to slash the rear Ardent on the only chunk that day. Day two, he manages to slach the replacement Captain. Just bad luck. I do have a minor sidewall surface cut on my rear, but wasn't deep. Just switched over from Nevegal 2.2s before the trip, which I never had a problems with until they started shedding side knobs like a dog in the spring time (rubber dried out), but I won't be going back to Nevegals.

Very cool ride and pictures. Did you take the templeton, baldwin, back on templeton lollipop loop or is there a route all the way around Cathedral Rock? Also is Pigtail a connector from Mystic to broken arrow so that you don't go all the way to Morgan Road then back on to broken arrow? What was your total mileage, time and elevation gain on this route? I just got into Sedona tonight and this look outstanding.

There's route around Cathedral that joins up w/ Templeton, but you'll need to convince the local guys to show it to you as the enterance is well hidden. Pigtail comes out at the very end of Mystic, so you still hit the road and need to ride over to BA. You might as well throw out the book on elevation and mileage as Sedona rules are totally different from CA. Some trails are rocky and slow going, but nearly all rideable. We spent on the order of 7 hours and barely covered 20 some miles.

Yeah, the contrasting colors of that second picture is phenomenal. Excellent photos!

One of the most beautyful places to ride a bike! Some painful memories of one of the shortest rides I've ever had. Next time I'll bring my own bike!

Thanks for the TR
