After a warm up day in Preskit, it was time to get down to business with the real goods over in Sedona. And to also meet up with the newly weds who had already been pedaling around the Red Rock valley for most of the week. Against the better judgment of others, I was asked to put together an all day ride. The mileage wouldn’t be much, but I figured we’d still use up most of the available daylight. Barcy & Ali even came prepared with lights. The rest of the weekend’s agenda would involve checking off local trails starting with the letter H. And even though today was Saturday, we were going to church…twice.

After PacMan got his cut sidewall replaced with a new tire at the great shop of Absolute Bikes, we met up with the newly weds at Bike & Bean and jumped right into the technical riding.

As usual, the views in Sedona’s don’t disappoint.

It’s seemingly impossible to take a bad picture.

Image

Ali definitely wasn’t in Pine Valley anymore and made the best of sharpening her technical skills during the week while cleaning this waterfall section.

Image

Trail builders take note, Sedona’s trails are some of the best built trails anywhere taking advantage of terrain features and very creative rock work.

Oh look! There it is!

Coming off the backside things would get interesting

Now why do I drive twice the distance to Moab?

No funny camera angles here, some serious off camber sketch.

Image

Back on the normal trails, we seem to have gone through a quite bit of water. So we headed over to Cresent Moon Picnic Area.

Image

After filling up with water, it was back across Baldwin’s Crossing.

And around Cathedral Rock on Templeton

Then we’re off to church again via Little Horse and Chapel

In one year’s time, a new trail popped up off Mystic.

Image

Pigtails is a real squeeler with berms, jumps, tabletops, and more.

Image

But before we could get on Broken Arrow trail, PacMan seems to have broken something for the second day straight. Yep, another sidewall tear in his new Specialized Captain. PacMan and Spec-Ed take the road back while the rest of us continue to Chicken Point. Running late in the day, we skip the another set of H trails.

What a great honeymoon couple!

A great ending to a day on Llama

Only to be finished off by hitting up the Oak Creek Brewery in Sedona.

Great pics....thanks for the TR. Truly a beautiful place and looks so very fun to ride there as well.

Like Baja says, this one will need to be on the calendar for next year for sure.

Thanks for the write up Sean! Those pics are hard to look at though, since they remind me that we don't have stuff like that here. Lol.

That was one of the greatest riding days of my life! Great ride, great scenery and great friends!!

Great pics Sean  !! Glad that your camera was able to capture the beauty of Sedona because ours certainly didn't! What a great day that was to be alive and on 2 wheels! I can't wait to go back.

Great TR, thanks. I'm looking forward to riding there again before too long -- it is definitely beautiful. So was that right -- Doug had two Captains with torn sidewalls on this trip? Cuz last weekend I was riding with a friend in Santa Barbara, and he tore a sidewall on a nearly new Captain.
