Just a couple I've been to and thought some others might be interested in....

Hurricane (think Zion National Park), Utah......March 27-30

The festival is only in it's 3rd year and I'd guess there were about 75 riders last year. It used to be the last festival of the season and vendors were burnt out after Outerbike. Consequently, only Niner, Ibis, Rocky Mountain and Suntour were there but my friends still got bikes every day. They also have a dutch oven dinner that was awesome with a beer garden and a few bands. They had organized rides with free local guides every day as well. All for $40.

Hurricane is 425 miles (6.5 hours, 2 hours from Vegas) from my house in Oceanside.

Fruita, Colorado April 24-27

This will be the 19th edition and I've been the last couple years. They've got this one pretty dialed but it is getting a little big for them to handle it all. They start out with a welcome dinner at a local Mexican food place with plenty of Belgium Brewing beverages on Thursday night. The restaurant holds about 1/2 the people that showed up last year so the line for food was long. they even ran out of food twice that I saw but it's hard to complain when it's free. They also have a beer garden on Friday night with a free pancake breakfast on Saturday morning.

As far as demos go, pretty much EVERY major company is on hand with tons of bikes. They deck a lot of them out with Enve wheelsets and 1x11 drivetrains. The only downside is there are 300+ people (maybe even more?) and people line up an hour early for some bikes...the Yeti SB95, Pivot Mach 429 and Santa Cruz Bronson carbon were all super desirable this past April. They also have guided tours but they aren't nearly as smoothly ran as Hurricane and guides aren't really needed for Fruita too much.

This one is 750 +/- miles from Oceanside and it takes us 13+ hours.

Feel free to shoot me any questions and I'll do my best to answer them.

Don't forget the Sedona Singletrack Celebration. It is in April or May as well. Have been to that one once, and Hurricane a couple years back. Both were pretty good.

I couldn't find the dates for Sedona in 2014 but I know it was May 3-5 for 2013. I've ridden in Sedona but haven't been to their festival yet.

Fred...I'm actually going with Matt (Arcaris). We are staying in a loft apartment that is 1/2 mile from the JEM trail (which is an IMBA Epic). It sleeps 4-5 people and feel free to join us just as long as:
1) you don't mind crashing on an air mattress
2) you don't mind some snoring
3) you can leave at 4:30 am on thursday the 27th & return on the 30th (or you can drive yourself of course)

Come on out, I will send you a PM as well :bang:

The Hurricane (Gooseberry), Utah Fat Tire Festival is coming in (3) weeks. It's officially March 28-30. It's not too late to get out there and get in on this. I know Belizebean has a group of 5 or 6 going out and I'll be out there with a few others.

$40 (optional) gets you a shirt, dutch oven dinner, welcome party with a band, guided rides each day if you choose and access to various demo bikes.

Have a great time you guys! Say Hi to Matt A. for me (our kids were friends). I love that place but my personal preference is to go when there is the least amount of people, not the most. But that's just me. I can see the Festival being a lot of fun.

If it makes you feel any better, the Hurricane Festival had maybe 125 people so crowds were not an issue by any means. Since Matt A know the area so well, we only did one group ride with the Festival and that was at Gooseberry. Our "official' guide took the slow group whiel Matt & I led a faster group of maybe (8) people. We didn't see another soul.

Now Fruita is a whole 'nother animal...400+ riders. It's super fun but the 18 Road and Kokopelli areas have alot of people. Still doesn't effect your ride at all but they're there for sure.
