Evdog, Thanks for the info. We'll have at least 6 days and make it a day or two longer if I can convince his mom we really don't need to be here for Easter.

Hmmm, just found out that the Easter Jeep Safari is in Moab that week.
Sounds like fun to me, but somehow don't think it's a great idea to bring a 16 year old along.

Okay, I kinda do think it would be fun of managed properly, but I know it wouldn't be fun when mom finds out.

So, SW Utah is looking good. But still considering Santa Cruz or Sedona too.

I was reading a post about this on mtbr a while back, sounds like it is not a big deal.

It will be hopping in Moab no matter when you go from Mar-May, but its still a cool vibe and fun to watch the jeeps play on the rocks when you come across them. With 6 days I'd definitely put in the extra mileage for Moab. You can always stop in Gooseberry on the way up and/or the way back to break up the drive. And as a bonus, if the trails are clear you could also stop and ride Thunder Mtn near Panguitch/Bryce Canyon, and then drive through Zion.
