Post subject:  Taking best step forward ??

I'm turning to thr greater mountainbike community for help.

My insurance has turned down my re hab options, and the Doctors are scrambling for options.
I'm really looking for advice from any of you that have encountered something similar. Proper re HAB will allow me to return to work and be active with my 10 year old son or even travel to see him.

I have a DVT in my broken leg. DVT is a blood clot. The clot was isolated with surgery. The Dr's are waiting for my blood to assimilate cumadin instead of me requiring heparin for which I still receive.
I've been in the hospital since Monday i have had two surgeries one for clot and one for broken leg.
The re HAB facility I was praying for is not conducive with my insurance.

I thank you in advance for suggestions. I have been doing in bed re HAB for lungs and clutch or pedal motions with feet. Yesterday I started quad tightening exercises.

Of course follow your docs orders.
I'd minimize being up and about for at lest a full 6-7 days, total. Keeping you leg elevated as much is practical for up to 10 total.
The foot flexing wont hurt at this point. (i assume your calf is in cased.)
Baring any complications, the DVT should practically be dissolved by then.
If your calf is casted, you will lose muscle definition, read: size, within a week.

Blowing in the respiratory/lung thinggy, you should of received in the hospital, is important until you can be mobile, which should be asap, per dr orders.

Walk as soon as your allowed.
Moving does a body good.

The rehab people at the hospital where you were, will probable give you advice on rehabbing the fx.
Just ask.
Good luck

Do every exercise they clear you for x 10...I cannot stress enough how quickly your leg will atrophy..I am on month 10 of rehab...I did have success getting my insurance to re-evaluate my coverage for PT/Rehab..pm me if you want to know more.
I was laid up, leg immobilized for 4 months. I feel your pain, but it gets better.
