I went through my old road bike and finally got her ready to run!
It's an old girl but still a classic ride.
Heading up S22 to see if I can cut some time off my PB.

I'll post up some pictures of her when I get back (including SPD pedals and WTB saddle!)

So maybe a big ride on a bike I have not ridden in five plus years wasn't such a good idea.
The seat was almost right.
The bars just don't fit this old guy any longer.
Maybe the chain had a couple of hard spots in it too.
The 'Micro Index' wouldn't index at all.
I even think the bottom bracket was kinda' tight too...

I'll let Ben at The Chainring have it for a week or so.
Lets see if he can fine tune it.

Sounds good. Bring it to the Sycamore race and I'll grab it then. :bang:

Tommasinis are works of art. Where are the pics you promised in the first post?

It spent its life as a race bike for some gum team (Big Red?)
When I got it, it spent its life as the step child to my MTBs.
Although I enjoyed many a mile on it, I still preferred to ride the dirt (as I do today.)
I know purists would cringe at the WTB saddle as well as the SPD cleats and the rolled forward bars.
Also thinking that they will be sick when it gets set up for this old guy who can't ride in the layed out road style of his youth.....

I'll probably need to set it up more as a touring ride than a RR, but it would just sit and collect dust if I didn't make the changes.

It has spent the last few weeks at Ben's house (The Chainring) and it is coming home tonight. The stem needed to be more 'old guy' friendly and a few other items needed to be fixed and adjusted.

I'm heading up Montezuma Grade tomorrow at 9am. I'm also thinking about doing the entire Scissor Crossing loop (something I have never done before)
Three hour run maybe?

What is this loop? I'm looking for something different for Sunday?

For me, I start here in Borrego Springs, head up Montezuma, through Ranchita, left on S22, down to Scissors Crossing, left on 78(?) down to Yaqui Pass Rd (left) then back into Borrego.
Maybe a 40 mile loop? I'll track it and post up the numbers.

Sunday I need to help a friend out at the river retrieve a truck.
