I run slime tubes on my commuter. $7-9 bucks a piece.

Anyone else run these with success? I picked up a couple at Performance Bike and had high hopes. Got my first flat last week, typical small glass puncture, and the slime failed me. It just kept bubbling out of the hole (which was well under the 1/8" the package claims to seal). I tried everything - spinning the tire, letting the hole rest at the bottom, reinflating the tube slowly. Eventually just pulled the tire off and used my patch kit (which I thankfully still had). The only thing the slime did for me was make it easy to identify the hole by the green goo bubbling out of it

For the money I don't think you can beat the Vitoria Randonneur tire, my buddy put over 10,000 mile on his, I have never seen him flat but they are a little heavy. I would think with their tread pattern thay would be great commuter tires. And you can get them for less than 30 bucks. Be carefull of the Performance (Forte) tubes, I tried them for a while because they have them buy two get one free all the time. but after pulling the valve core out of several brand new tubes just by pulling the pump off .... they suck.
