Mark this one off as the cheapest 5 min mod i've done on this bike. After seeing that youtube DIY on using the reflector mount as a means to hold the camera. I set out to accomplish this since i've been delayed in starting my helmet cam mod.

1) Headed down to Rock N Road and asked them if they had any of these reflectors. The one lady looked at me like i was nuts and said i dont think so. The other chap, proceeded to go into the back shop area and check...he came out w/ 2 and I asked "what do i owe you?" His reply "dont worry about it" w00t score two!

2) Headed over to Lowe's to pick up some bolts, washers and nuts. The threaded bottom of my camera surprisingly is a standard thread and not metric as I originally thought. So i picked up a 1/4" x 1" bolt and a 1/4" x 1.25" bolt just in case.

3) Got home and proceeded to do the mod as described in the youtube link. My bar was thick enough i didnt have to wrap electrical tape around the bar so that was a relief.

The 2nd clamp i really wanted to bount that onto the seatpost but it didnt look likely as the camera would stick out too much and probably hit my leg. I'm still working on mounting this onto the non-drive side rear lower triangle.

Anyway, I'll try it tomorrow hehe, most likely i'll be putting a piece of foam over the mic opening to minimize the wind noise. Here are the pics of the mount and the mount w/ the camera attached

Now for the video i really wished i could have got my tire or something in the frame to give you the viewer a frame of reference. But this is great cheap mount and does the job. I may try to mount the other one on my seatpost and have it facing back!

Nice Foo, the picture isn't all jittery like one would assume from being mounted on the handle bars. I was going to mount my camera on the bars in a similar fashion but I had assumed it wouldn't come out smooth like yours. Thanks for posting it up, I am now reassured it will work.

i use imovie on the mac to piece things together.

I successfully rigged a rearward mounted camera mount to my seatpost so it'll be a good shot of the chaser...that's come next week :)

thanks i really like it and im still amazed how nice it came out

I upload to vimeo so you can view it there better picture quality IMO

there's a bit of hardware missing (the nut to secure/apply pressure to the camera) but you get the general idea!

Next i found this little thing i had that secured my canned air to my bike...and it straps onto the helmet just right...just need to figure out how to mount the bolt through this... ???

What a great idea. The picture quality is good and not a whole lot of shaking. I am suggesting to add a fat rubber gasket right above and under the nuts so basically the bolt is being suspended by them to avoid the jitters.

Thanks for sharing the idea and the video clip.

I'm going to Home Dump to get some hardware & try this. I saw in the video they used wing nuts & large washer.

We'll see how it goes, hopefully get some video in.

i avoided using the wing nut because i didnt want the camera to be sitting so high up but w/ the wing nut it would be easier to tighten it down.

Check out the rear gunner camera angle

vibration must be a #itch. what are you doing from keeping it from breaking where the camera screws on? that mount point wasn't engineered for that kind of stress long term. i've busted those on regular tri-pods.

good idea though interested to see how it works.

It does vibrate, but no matter what it's, still cool to see the video.

Pretty cool tip -- one of my favorite 5 minute DIY. :D

check the quick video: http://www.vimeo.com/2454457

My camera has some weird motion sensor thing and shuts off (i didn't know this at the time) -- so all my bombing runs didn't get saved. arggh.

Anyway, I'll give it another go and post more up.
