We headed over to Prescott on Friday night to ride there in the morning and check on the rental house before driving to Sedona on Saturday afternoon.
The 396 Goldwater lakes trail system was on the list for the morning and it didn’t disappoint. It started off with a trail marker like this one below which we need more of here

The boys had a blast chasing each other through the turns

Most of the trails look like this

We headed down the 330 Feldmeir trail and just had a blast. So much that we rode back up and did it again. Hit up a couple of the connector trails and tried to hit them all while we were here. We ended up around 20 miles for the morning and a great way to start off the trip.

Headed to Preskitt Valley for lunch and a little business and drove by a Grand Prix moto race right it town. I’m always amazed how PV just plain gets it. This area has so much going on it makes me crazy thinking San Diego is so hard to do anything like that here. Open space might have something to do with that… AZOPRACING.COM

Checked into the hotel and decided to get a quick one in before dinner. Headed right down the sidewalk to the Adobe Jack Trail head. Hit up Grand Central to Adobe Jack and then back to hit the pool.

In the morning we went over to the West Sedona trails located north of 89A and west of Dry Creek Road. The plan was to have a big day of riding (for me and in Sedona- those that have ridden here know what I’m saying here). We took off from the Dry Creek TH and rode up Chuck wagon>Mescal>Deadmans Pass>Long Canyon>Mescal again>Aerie>Western Civilization> Girdner>Rupp>Cockscomb>Dawa>up Anaconda> Girdner to the car.

Lots of ups & downs

and rock step ups..

The views were outstanding as always

Again, this ride was a little over 21 "Sedona" miles and a grueling day for me. Having run out of water before climbing Anaconda and all the miles, I was a hurting old fart. Got back to the car and grabbed a cold one to get properly hydrated. I can’t remember any other ride that took so much out of me. Maybe my old, fat body can’t take this abuse anymore…

Took a trip into Village of Oak Creek to check out the town and grab dinner. I noticed that Bike and Bean has moved closer to the road in the same center. Take note: No trail head parking signs were all over this lot now so no more parking next to Slim Shady

Something came up at home so we had to leave Monday afternoon. After an early breakfast we hit up the south Sedona trails that many have ridden before. Started at Slim Shady to Templeton down to Oak Creek. There is a section here that is double Black Diamond and I can see why. Very tight switchbacks with exposure that I wisely walked. We knew it was there from another trip but for some crazy reason we wanted to go through there again. Back tracked and headed down Easy Breezy which is a blast riding slick rock step downs then crossed the road and headed to Chicken point. We pedaled up Broken Arrow and then returned south due to time. Turned down Llama, played on the slick rock sections and then back to the car. The last day was around 16 miles and we were all done for sure.

Another great Sedona trip was in the books and waiting to go up again. I think the Sedona season is over for now but if you haven't made the trip, plan on it. Well worth the drive

Love all those trails in Sedona, can't wait to get back....probably in October. One of these days, I'm going to have to bring my bike to Prescott and ride.

Old. Fat. Skinny. Young..... 21 Sedona miles would take it out of most of us I reckon. Sounds like you had a great riding weekend.

I really love the challenge of the trails there since you're always working but it does take a lot out of you for sure. The problem I have now is my mind says "go out and do a big ride" then my body says "sure, but you'll pay for it later old man" Oh well, it hurts so good

I never realized how difficult sedona miles are just because of the technical climbing. I was way more tired than expected. Even tahoe miles at 8k ft didn't seem so bad.

Great job on the 21 miles! We planned to do the 32 mile Triple H tour before we got to Sedona but after girdner decided that was a big no! Especially with how hot it was.
