I live in Ventura county. I have never seen that much water in the canyon before. The crossings ranged from 8' to 35' in length. Almost everyone was above the bottom bracket. On one crossing my front tire submerged. Good thing my chain ring hit something hard to help lift the front tire and start up the bank. It as rude when the rear tire submerged.

There were 20 creek/water crossings in an eight mile RT. I had up to 12 before but never this depth. There was water where I've never seen water. I was taking a MTB Intro class through REI. I was hoping to connect with some riders for my recuperation after a hip replacement surgery. Looks like I'll continue mostly solo rides. One person in the class had never ridden a MTB or been on ST. She was the first to go for the first creek crossing. I expected the ST to be muddy but they were perfect.

I rode a furnished Ghost FS 26". I was impressed with the weight and performance of the bike. I usually ride a Trance X29er0. I knew there would be water and it takes more time to clean my bike than the ride time.

Sycamore Canyon, in Ventura County, has three IMBA featured rides capable of being done in 19.5 miles. Its worth a stop by. If you are in Thousand Oaks, looping the Whoop Dee Doo's is a nice distraction and if you are fortunate, you will find your way over to the Roller Coasters.
