If it's ever crossed your mind, go for it!! Three of us made the trip up this morning and did the 'Enduro Tour' with SCOA shuttles. It was $55 per person. We started at 10 am, had (5) separate shuttle drops and finished up at 4:30. We only technically rode 21 miles but had almost 11000 feet of elevation drop with less than 1800 of climbing. The last drop from Eaton Saddle was 12 miles long with 4700 feet of elevation drop as we rode back to civilization. We just scratch the surface but the riding up there was pretty impressive to say the least. Most of the stuff we did today is best described as a cross of Nobel Canyon and the San Juan Trail techier overall with 10X the number of 1-2 foot drops at speed. The Sunset Ridge Trail on our last drop was maybe the best trail I've ever ridden in SoCal. If you're interested, it was 100 miles to the trailhead from my house in Oceanside. It took us 90 minutes to get there which left us plenty of time to get breakfast before catching the 1st shuttle. As much as I like riding the Cannell Plunge, this was an easier experience to pull off. |
