Posted by a Front Ranger, but applies most places. Not everyone will agree with all, but all will likely agree with a majority of the list. Personally, I'm willing to cut friends some slack on number six. https://www.singletracks.com/blog/mtb-columns/10-mountain-biking-trail-fouls/ I don't know if this Coloradan named Michael Paul is the same guy who used to live here, but might be. |

I thought I was the only one who thought Strava was endangering the sport. My favorite riding area was devastated by a fire eliminating the vegetation. The original trail included up/down ruts and a very bumpy steep downhill that ended in a washout corner. That was the second most helicopter rescue section in the park. Every obstacle now has a very smooth bypass. T3 --> T0, might as well be paved. This is my comment on Strava. Riding this trail uphill before the fire I encountered a helicopter rescue on a light downhill section. A beginner rider had been run off the trail by a rider shouting 'strava' and suffered a broken clavicle. The current KOM on this trail can be very proud that the time of a person who could actually ride was beaten by a person riding a smooth highway. The whole thing is so bogus. |
