Do you have any retro parts in your bins? Looking for 1998-2001 era parts.
High on my list:
Girvin Fork (hopefully coil)
Paul V Brakes and levers
Rasta Chris King Headset
Any Selle Flite saddle (royal blue USPS version would be tight)
Azonic world force riser bar
Hayes Mag with 22mm rear caliper
Spin or Revx wheels

I just got myself a sentimental retro project bike.
Back story:
My college roomie challenged me to build him a full custom FS bike for just $1500 back in 1999.
I rummaged through my buddy's online store shop and picked up a closeout frame. Grabbed a few OE parts and viola!!!

After college, we reunited a couple of times working as consultants in LA then lost touch when we got laid off. Then today, after catching up over lunch, he handed me the same bike I built for him as a gift. The same parts and all. Full circle.

So before I stalk eBay, does anyone have any 1998-2001 retro mtb parts to sell, donate, trade, etc?

Sorry, nothing here, have fun. I have my 92 Bridgestone MB2, which is all period built. My Dad still has his original ProFlex. When you get it together, we can do a vintage ride.

DUDE! Green silica tires, oooh yeah!
I have the OG Red Hot S right now. I want to run the 2.1 red Hot s front and that green in the back. Seriously.
I'll keep you in mind for the V brakes in case my attempts to revive the OG Hayes Mag fails.

I was able to talk to an old Manitou engineer buddy of mine and he's got a fork lined up. If he finds it, this is going to be one interesting rare fork.

Off topic: Guess who I ran into at work and chatted for a while? Warren Wong of CDFG. We talked a lot about Calavera. He's moved onto Mitigation Bank Management role but it's cool to get his personal opinions on stuff. At the moment, off record, just keep on trucking. :)

I wanted that Proflex but my buddy hinted that I maybe getting this Psycle Werks so I held off purchasing a ProFlex or a GT STS. When I get this built back up (which should be soon), let's do a retro ride. Maybe at Hodges or somewhere with no gnar temptation. I don't want to die or break a ton of parts on the first go. lol.

How much and best way to grab them from you? Matchy matchy with the blue frame too. Woot!
I hope the BCD on that kooka is pretty standard size.

Ozzer, this has been sitting in my parts bin for a few years. Its from a 2000 Cove bike, so fits your time period. I disassembled it at some point, may have been leaking fluid from the caliper, and never got around to putting it back together. I *should* have a second functional one somewhere. Let me know if this is what you're looking for in terms of brakes. Free, if you can use them.

Awww. Sweet baby jesus.
I definitely would love to grab those (especially the functional one) maybe for a pack of whatever IPA.
I used to rebuild these back in early 2000s and the cartridge is a PITA when it starts to go.
Pls let me know when you have them all ready for pick up. The more parts I have to salvage from to make a functional set, the better. The ones on this PW is so corroded. The plungers are stuck, c clips and lever adjusters are all rusted out.

Harley....you're like a bike part hoarder. Another 75 years and the American Picker guys will be able to swing by your place for an MTB episode. :bang:

Cool project by the way Ozzer. I've entertained the idea of trying to build a GT LTS from those days. That was my favorite bike ever. I'm just too lazy and if yet another bike made it's way inside my house, my wife might blow a gasket. :domo:

For sure, man. I'm just looking back at all these cool retro bikes in fondness. I recall how many times I went to Bicycle Warehouse in PB (then called Mountain Bike Warehouse) and Mission Cycle (RIP -now Performance) in Bonita drooling at GT STS and LTS-1. They were the hottest shit when I swallowed the blue pill called mountain biking. Other bikes I stalked on CL and eBay are Klein Mantra, any Proflex but really wanted the 957 and Independent Fabrication reynolds steel hardtail frame.

Can't wait to build this Psycle Werks up and ride it (semi-gingerly).

I pulled the Michelin Wildgripper out of the bottom of the bin, and it is indeed a Wildgripper Lite S, but with the old skool brown sidewalls and black tread. The logo on the tyre is still in lime green letters. Not as cool as the lime green tread, but still that vintage 1.9, and it's new. Or at least not ever used for at least 20 years.

Thanks for the cranks Harley. Gonna be a struggle to find rings in its BCD. So tempted to go single ring on this but that's so not-1998.

Frame is in immaculate, mint, near new condition. I can't believe I remembered how to rebuild the Nixon fork. She's working but I don't trust the old o-rings to hold. I might source out a service kit and rebuild it again. Really bummed that the OG Hot S tires are cracked in many places. Kimba, did you say you have two Michelins? Next is the Hayes full rebuild.
