My wife can't wait to forge ahead on the e-run. We just wonder where the battery and motor are going to be placed on her. This debate harkens back to the early days of electrification in this country when many said it was the work of the devil. We know now (maybe) that is largely not true, but people to this day still use hand tools, pens, land even write letters and ride horses. We also don't fish using explosives even though it works better, initially at least. There will always be human powered only endeavors because it's real. When will any grand tour embrace pedal assist, or any Olympic sport? Maybe never. It just takes the hooman out of it and now we're more into the mechanical, electrical engineering side of things. The challenge of pushing and sweating out a hard climb to be rewarded by a descent is exquisite. Cruising up a climb on an ebike seems like it would be much less rewarding in the end. Going downhill on rocky singletrack on a 40-50 pound bike seems like it would be strange, slower, more unforgiving and a lot less fun. Yes, change is the only constant, but some things don't change.
