It lives! almost......... just got out of the garage. Realized earlier that I had only ordered one of two tires. Jammed over to Bicycle Warehouse and grabbed a WTB Breakout for the rear before they closed.

Have not had a chance to mess with suspension settings at all. And I'm sure I'll need to cut the bars down a bit. The very last part of the build presented a problem though. The damned KMC 11 spd missing links absolutely would not fully connect the Shimano chain together. Any more force and I feared I'd break a chain pin. I guess I'll have to take it to the shop and have someone hold my hand to show me what the hell I'm doing wrong. The bike does indeed look sinister though (in a messy garage)..

giggity

Mine does look similar, but sadly, I don't have as much bench space, and I certainly don't store my piss bottles on the counter with my other water bottles.

Nice. That's definitely not piss! At least I'm pretty sure it's not piss.... hmmm...maybe it's piss.

My garage looks a bit more like a set from the Evil Dead - old, crusty and creepy.

Well, I won the Stupidshit Rookie award last night. As I lay in bed pondering my chain connection dilemma, it occurred to me that you cannot use pedal force to snap the link together if the link is located at the bottom of the drive train. It must be on top so that the chain ring actually applies tension to the link. Duh.

(This is mostly a cross-post from an Evil forum)

Just took it for it's inaugural ride and was duly impressed. I'm coming from a L Ibis Mojo HD to a M Insurgent. I'm 5'11" and 190 lbs. I still need to make some adjustments, but this bike is no joke. Way faster on my every-day ride descents, and on day-one no less! I had immediate confidence on this bike - straight outta the gate.

Climbing is relatively efficient and I had no issues cleaning the same stuff I normally do. The larger wheel size may have helped to make some typically sketchier technical sections easier (the wider rims, beefy tires and low pressures surely helped as well).

More time in the saddle is needed, but it does feel like it may have taken slightly more effort on the climbs. I did expect this however so I want to make sure it's not a placebo effect. I'll be tackling a more 'climby' trail later in the week and will have a better feel thereafter.

Time will tell how well the bike holds up. I really hope it fares well and doesn't develop niggling issues. Out of the box though, and my first impression? It's well made. Well designed. A super fun shredder.

After a slightly OCD decision-making process between the current crop of tough choices, I feel like I made the right selection with this bike (fingers crossed about those potential niggling issues).

(end cross-post)

So yeah, I'm freakin' stoked! :bang: :bang: :bang:
