Attachment: My wife found this section of backbone way up a desert wash on Saturday, and I am all but certain it is from a bighorn sheep. However, a sheep spine and a human spine are about the same size. Easily differentiated by a trained eye, but mine isn’t. It was obviously old, and on top of untracked sand freshly washed down from the mountains by recent rains. So I noted the location, and illegally carried it out with us to a ranger station for them to have it identified. Why? We were downwash from the last known location of a San Marcos teenager who left his disabled Jeep ten years ago and was never seen again. The rangers were unfamiliar with the case and the location, but I’ve never forgotten about him. Highly unlikely, but still... |
