All the work I put in on my 26" Intense bike, almost down the drain after owning a 29er.
I feel more confident on my 29er now.
Just a rant.
I'm sure there are many others in the same boat.

I don't feel that way anymore. I don't have any more of those baby-wheeled bikes. Only 29ers for me from now on.

I'm 6'3" tall, and I've always felt in danger of going OTB on a 26" wheel bike since I am so far above the front axel height. The 29er is a much more balanced fit for me due to the large frame size. Most people have to do a double-take on my bike as it's not obvious that it's a 29er at all due to it being proportional all over. It may be heretical in these days where everyone assumes that the choice they made must apply to all others. But I think that this increase in size options is awesome for the purposes of bike fitting. I see people on a size small 29er, and I wonder why they are bothering riding a 29er at all. A 26er would be better for a small size frame for the same reason that a 29er is better for an XL frame like mine. I just completed a transformation on my wife's bike to turn it from a 26er to have a 24" wheel on the back. Is that a 46er? Or a 64er? She's tiny and she fits better on that smaller wheel size. Go with what's best for you, and ignore the hype that this bike industry is so good at producing. |

I am one of those small people who is now on a 29er. Although the 26er fits better(until Ellsworth came with their 2011 model) I love how I can easily climb and roll over things that I would normally HAB on my 26er. I haven't tried my 29er on some of the switchbacks I normally go through but it seems to handle everything ells  pretty well.

I enjoy riding my 29er alot, but at the same time, I won't be giving up on the 26ers either.
