Told my wife I wanted to try a 29er. It'll only be about $200 I said. (For the frame...) So far so good on ebay and CL.

Won't have her much longer. I'm too old for the HT ride. A squishier ride is in my immediate future. I'll enjoy these last few rides before she goes to someone who will appreciate her more.

Right . . . ?! Part of my sales pitch to the CFO was that if the time interval between this bike purchase and my last bike purchase repeats itself, I won't be due for another bike until I'm 60 years old. What I didn't tell her is that we'll all be riding hover bikes by then, and I will definitely need one of those . . . .

Because a bike isn't a bike until you post it on Social Media...

Built it up with a Fox TALAS just to have the option of switching the travel down for extended climbs. Necessary? Not really. But still nice to have the option. She's truly a quiver killer for me with this set up. She climbs really well given her borderline portly stature and she absolutely DESTROYS downhills and chunky sections. She's brilliant.

And to my old hardtail -- I loved you once, but in the words of Taylor Swift: We are never, ever, ever getting back together.

And just for clarification: You can see my GPS clearly mounted on the stem. I'm coming back from a major back injury (ruptured disc, bulging disc and early onset Spinal Stenosis due to injury). I'm building my tolerance back up and keeping track of how much my back can handle. Therefore I ride with a GPS -- to keep track of time and distance strictly as a way to keep track of my back's progress and tolerance to being back on the bike. Please don't revoke my Soulrider card!!

Finally broke down and upgraded from the dark ages (1996 Trek hardtail) to a Trek Fuel EX7. Now I just need to get out and ride the damn thing more.

And yes.. I've removed the reflectors.

Congrats and welcome back. It took you nearly six years to act on your new bike thoughts...happy trails!
