I mostly DH but I'd like to buy a bike that pedals well up the hill and goes down the hill reasonably well. I've always considered the 29er thing to be a fad until I demo'd one at Big Bear and fell in love. It pedaled like my road bike and ripped down the trails like my slopestyle! So far I've narrowed it down to 3 contenders.
1) Turner Sultan, this was the bike that I demo'd at big bear and it was great despite the fact that it had so long stem on it. I already own a Turner DHR and love the brand
2) Transition Bandit 29, not out yet but seems bad ass in that it is slack and low and low priced. but it is a single pivot which isn't that great of a pedal platform. But I also own a Transition bottlerocket and also really like the brand
3) Intense Tracer 29, the one that I'm leaning toward because it is more slack than the sultan but also it has a fancy VPP suspension that is a great pedal platform. I however have a bunch of friends in the DH realm that break their intense frames within a season of riding. That and i remember the uzzi, socom, ss all have terrible side to side flex which would drive me nuts.Thats my main hang up on this bike.

Does anyone have a tracer 29? Does it have flex issues? Do you like it? Thanks

This doesn't answer your question in regards to the Tracer, but have you considered the upcoming Yeti SB-95? Initial reaction has been good.
