I totally had that bike. cant rememebre if that was the exact model but I so had a Torker! I haven't even thought aboout my Torker in years. I remember drawing the Torker logo in chalk on the sidewalk and one of my friends changed it to Dorker.

Oops, these aren't 26", but they were "the" bmx to have and it was one of the highest winning and highest selling bikes back in the day.

Dude. Do I remember the Master?!! I knew all about it. It was a Haro. They had 3 bikes on that line- The Master (best), Sport (mid range) and the FST (starter). They were ground freestyle bikes. I know all this because I got the FST for my Barmitsvah. The legend in our town, Radical Rick had a Master and was the first one in central jersey to build a quarter pipe in his backyard. The top tube of the Master had that double thing like the Torker shown. It was to stand on etc. I had lets see...Huffy bike from Caldor's, thrn a Torker, a Haro FST, then a GT Mach One and at 17 I bought a Giant Touring bike and then after that a dope Giant Cadex Mtn Bike. Ill have to upload a pic of my Cadex. I beat that thing for 12 years until I got my K2 a few years ago.

I used to ride around everywhere on one of these, this same year '78 in fact.
This isn't a picture of my old bike, but I did some searching and this is what I had, just a different color....brings back some great memories. It wasn't an expensive bike, or even a popular bike, but I didn't care, it worked flawlessly and got me where I wanted to go.

i think mine was a murray. it was like cruiser style with the curved bars coming up from the seat stays.

1973? Wow! Yamaha didn't even come out with their "mono-shock" until 1979. I had one of the first year of YZ80's to have the mono shock. It's funny how their pivot location is in nearly the exact same place as several of the current full-susp manufacturers. Matthews was way ahead of their time!
