My Spot SS belt drive 29er couple changes from picture, it now has: King Bottom Bracket Thomson seat post King headset igniter front tire SLX cranks Stans Arch rims w/hadley titanium hubs w/rws in back Oury lock on's True Temper Steel frame Race Face SL bars Ritchey 4 axis stem Stroker trail brakes WTB saddle SB8 rear tire Minute Absolute fork Gates belt drive (32x19 effective) Now just a hair over 22lbs

Not sure on the minute yet, I have only put about 50 miles on it so far and my initial observations are both positive and negative. On the plus side, it is light and super stiff for what it is, controls are smooth and it seems well built. Compression clicks from one to the next have a big impact, I find though that it needs to be set on the firm side for descending so it doesnt blow through the travel too fast, on soft setting it does soak up bumps really well. all the way is near lock out with a little compliance, perfect for climbing. There seems to be some stiction at first but once it starts moving it gets buttery. On the negative side, it seems a bit noisy, too the point that i am going to pull it apart this weekend and check the oil level, i have a feeling it may be low, may put thinner oil in it as well. Almost like a clicking coming from it. I do think it is stiffer then the reba's i have ridden and just as buttery as the fox, couple of tweeks and a few more miles and i should have it wired. I can say it is way more cush then the rigid fork on my karate monkey. |

Thanks for the review that is excatly what I was hoping to get. Let me know how it works after your rebuild. I am looking for a white 80mm 29er fork and I don't want to pay Fox money. |

Here is my 2008 Raleigh XXIX. Took it for a long ride last Friday. First thing I noticed was the handle bars are way narrow from my trail bike. I think I will change these out so it feels right and I can get more leverage when climbing. Other than that, I love the bike and am hoping it makes the Lake Hodges trails a little more interesting. (Spec list here if interested.) |

1964 Schwinn Typhoon with V brake tab welded on and a 1 1/8" rok shok shoehorned in the head tube. 36/18 gearing.

It was very simple. I sat there with a box of bearing races until I found two (from two different headsets) that fit into the frame and then got the bearings and outer races to match. I was told it could not be done but I've had this bike for years now and beaten the livin' crap out of it. I've done this more than once now, it can be done if you have enough stuff to root through to make it happen. Being that I did it 6-8 years ago, I'm not sure what I used but it works fine. I don't really have enough tech information to move the thread... |

My Raleigh XXIX on the Black Oak trail halfway through the Cuyamaca Grand Loop. Been super stoked to have a mountain bike again after 3 years of cyclocross and road bikes! Basically stock except the handle bars, grips and pedals.
