We all like flow, right? Everyone still on this forum has been doing this for years and has seen dozens of videos on suspension setup, but some folks do better with graphics. This flow chart distills pressure setup so simply and clearly anyone can do it, even me. Attachment:

mtbchip wrote: Word: Coil Well, the post is about air forks and flow charts, but there are definitely advantages to coil suspension (I think shocks more than forks) and I have messed with them some. The corresponding coil flow chart would go something like this: Set sag —> Go ride —> Did you get full travel? —> No —> Buy a new spring —> Repeat Here’s a good article that explains the advantages well: https://www.singletracks.com/mtb-interviews/whats-hot-with-mtb-coil-shocks-and-forks-we-asked-the-suspension-experts/ |

It's truly up to each rider and what they like in terms of feel and function. I have BOTH a coil fork & shock. After years of "adjustment frustration" and snappy & rough suspension, I found suspension built around an air "pocket" was just not working for me. The Cane Creek Helm fork & same brand "Inline coil" shock have really improved the ride of my SC5010cc. YES, a rider must match the "spring" to their weight and ride style. Supple and smooth from the little stuff to the big hits as well is what I have now. |
