anyone ever use cane creeks angleset headset. I would really like to slacken out the head angle on my horribly steep felt redemption. And this headset would be perfect, all the reviews I have seen are pretty negative, with most complaining of knocking sounds

Any one have any personal experience with these headsets?

Thanks

I don't have personal experience, but many of my friends have had issues with their anglesets (e.g., coming loose on hard hits, constant knocking sounds).

Consider trying offset shock bushings: http://www.burgtec.co.uk/products/offse ... -hardware/

works components headset. I have it, no knocking, works awesome. offset bushings I've used, they work but don't work on all frames.

thanks good flow- i will look into these offest bushings, do you know if they alter the shocks eye to eye ?

92se-r the works headsets look like a lot less hassle than the cane creeks. From what ive seen they are only sold in the UK, Where did you purchase yours? and how much did it cost to ship to the US?

Thanks!

You can order from their website just like any online vendor. I've been using one for 5 months with no issues. There is a currency link in the upper right so you can change prices to US dollars.

The bushings won't change your eye-to-eye if you use two.

eh, they do change effective eye to eye, that's how it works to change your geometry. ur static sag sits deeper in the suspension cycle to slacken geometry.

get the works. they ship straight to your house. the cane creek sucks. couldn't get it stop clunking.

Really? If you use front and rear bushings rotated in the same direction wouldn't the eye-to-eye remain the same?

Unlike me, it's clear you're not a fan of offset bushings. Nevertheless, I appreciate you zealously advocating the works headset. (Indeed, I've heard nothing but great things about them.)

I'm indifferent, I've used both so I'm not biased towards either way. why would you have two offset bushings setup like that? the whole point is to use two facing inwards to slacken and lower the bike.

Fine tuning: it makes for a slight adjustment rather than a more drastic one.

I used them on a Santa Cruz nickel.

so then you should know that it shifts where the rear triangle moves relative to the front triangle right?

doesn't effect real eye to eye - just allows wheel to sit a little into its range of travel at normal sag by lowering the shock down in the mounts some. As long as you don't have interference at full travel you are OK

http://bicycling.com/blogs/thestraightdirt/tag/burgtec/

Quote:
As most any given suspension frame goes into its travel, the bottom bracket naturally drops and the headtube angle slackens. The Burgetc offset bushing kit makes it possible to “Trick” a frame into advancing into what would be approximately 6mm of its travel (3mm of offset from each opposed bushing adds up to 6mm), while the critical eye-to-eye length of the shock remains the same.

that's what I've been trying to say, maybe I wasn't that clear. effective I-I changes, but shock I-I does not. you don't have to worry about clearance issues with the headset. that's about the only difference. we could also get into how you sag into a different area of your suspension curve, but most people wouldn't notice.
