Due to other plans I cannot make the morning Halloween ride, so I'm planning an afternoon ride at Vail Lake to see what the 12 Hour Race Course looks like.

Heading up for a start time of 2:30pm. Will probably only do one lap, depending on the time. It's about 10 miles with 1100 feet of climbing.

Got up to Vail Lake this afternoon, ended up going alone, but got a good ride in. This was my first trip there, so i wasn't sure what it would be like. Overall typical Socal trails, mostly just riding up canyons and down canyons. Nothing too technical except one bit of rocky switchback downhill that comes after the longest hardest climb at about 7.5-8 miles in, so your good and tired.

Dirt was great, tons of grip, only wet in a few spots near the bottom. Hopefully the soil doesn't dry out so fast it will still provide good grip for next weekend.

The Enduro stages looked pretty good, with some major jumps towards the bottom.
