this just sucks. I remember hiking out here with my dad frequently. It was secluded, and a 'special' place. Now it's become yet another bario.
The video states that there are 250 uesrs an hour at peak times. . . that is just a shame.

"In past years, getting to the secluded site required strong hiking skills. All of that changed when the U.S. Forest Service recently opened a new trail intended to make the walk to Cedar Creek Falls safer and more accessible to the weekend hiker"

Wow that's sad. I saw someone's TR/hike report about this area a while back and thought that's one place I really need to check out. After watching that video I feel like that's one place I really need to avoid.

Back in the mid 90s the San Diego Reader ran an article about CCF and the traffic increased but that there, that makes me sick to my stomach.

It is a shame to see but all too common.

I used to love that place as well. Last time we were down there, we saw all of the crap left by the tourons who could give a crap about nature (butts, cans, trash, broken glass all over the place).
When I hiked it with my wife, and 6 year old, we did the singletrack trail down from the dirt road, not the trail from the community. If those people in the video had to do it from there, I bet only a third of them would actually make it to the falls (hell, maybe they might not even make it all the way down the dirt road 10 miles to the trailhead).

The video didn't say if the owners in the neighborhood were getting anywhere with the parking moratorium..it will be interesting to follow that one.

Thanks for posting this.

Reminds me of Malibu Creek Park in the Santa Monicas. Easy access creates ghetto in the wilderness.

Yeah, but you've got to admit that it'd be pretty cool to see one of these on the trail on the way out there . . . .

250 users an hour seems a bit exaggerated, although I cant see the video here at work.
There have been a few rescues of people in over their head hiking in there and making it back out , so I imagine they figured if they made it easier to get there than there would be less rescues

That is really sad. I thought it was too crowded in the early 80's when there were 20 people partying there on a weekend. I'll definitely not go there again. I used to be thankful for the fact that while the county population might go up considerably, it seemed like backcountry use only went up by a fraction of that as most of the ignoramuses stayed in the city. No longer true.
