This was recently announced by SDMBA. Their plan for Orosco Ridge trails in Ramona in cooperation with the USFS fell through — let’s hope the La Jolla Band proceeds with this.

“Big news! The La Jolla Adventure Park by the La Jolla Band of Luiseño Indians is working to create a large scale mountain bike park in San Diego County. We have been working with them over the last couple months and it looks like construction will start this winter with an aim to be open in 2022. Look for more updates from us soon!”

WTF?! GASS had recently posted some photos of features and trail work here and it appeared nearly done. Now this.

The La Jolla band has ADD. My band used to play there in the early 2000s at the later editions of the Baja Bash. They were not real helpful and that ended after 3 times. They had/have a moto track. I think that may still be there. Then they had river floating in tubes down the creek. Then they had a zip line. Not sure what is going on with that but it was a big deal at the time. Biggest zip line ever, etc. Now this. I hope it works because the terrain is perfect but they will charge lots for admission, it's far, far away from everybody except the King of the Mountain, and they have ADD.

^^^ Good point, using ADD as a descriptor. You forgot the failed water park venture. As for the zip line, it’s worse. An employee died in a tragically preventable fall from a tower while rigging up a guest not long ago. I think we can assume poorly trained and supervised. Which is why I don’t do zip lines or carnival rides. Maybe the bike park was doomed from the start. Sigh.

They really need to change their name to the South Bay Mountain Biking Association.

They do nothing for the rest of the county, and made something worse up here with their involvement.

To be fair with them since I've spent plenty of time on trail days, Bankerboy does a good job in the Black Mt & PQ areas and down south they have very involved members that put in the effort. Mt. Laguna/Noble has someone busting butt many a weekend too.
Nobody has ever taken the reins in NC. Flip side, they seem to never try up there either so it's still a lose/lose game.
If the property owners up in NC let people work without threat of legal action, it would be a fantastic area but that won't happen any time soon. Valley Center Bike Park? Nope..
Sorry to get off track...

Yeah. Also to be fair, in North County they’ve done good at La Costa and Daley Ranch. But they checked out the situation years ago at Calavera and didn’t want to get involved in a losing proposition, because there are no deals to be made with DFW. And they really got burned badly by USFS on the Orosco Ridge thing. I think they only want a sure thing nowadays. Something must’ve spooked them about the La Jolla deal, because after that initial announcement, they went quiet and just let GASS provide any updates.

well, we have the Veteran's park situation coming up soon for City of Carlsbad. They do not seem to have any input or support for that project, at least they are not talking about it.

Yes Bankerboy is a great dude and hard worker, but for those of us living in North Coastal Black Mountain might as well be South Bay, it is not close. Same goes for Daley. My understanding is they were told not to touch La Costa.

That happened several years ago. SDMBA beat the drums for support, a bunch of us locals attended meetings and wrote letters. It’s a done deal now. Master Plan including a bike park is approved. Construction starts next year.

I was all over leading the charge to get people to sign that petition and sign up for the survey.
