I don’t care if you are for ‘em or against ‘em, but if you want to provide comments, here’s how:

(Copied from City message, thanks for the heads-up SDMBA).

The City Wants to Hear from You!
Trails Advisory Committee Municipal Code Proposal for E-Bikes

The San Marcos Trails Advisory Committee (TAC) has
proposed changing the Municipal Code regarding
class 1 & 2 E-bikes on San Marcos trails. The TAC will vote on this measure at the TAC meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 13. If this recommendation passes within the TAC, it will move forward in the proposal process to the Parks & Recreation Commission. If the recommendation passes at the Parks & Recreation Commission, it will then go to City Council for final approval. You will have an opportunity to voice your opinion at each meeting stage of the recommendation process.
Please refer to the calendar on the City of San Marcos website for scheduled meeting days, times and agenda items: www.san-marcos.net/live/calendar-of-events.
Public Comment: If you wish to address the Board on any agenda item, please email Andrea. Gonzalez@san-marcos.net and write “Public Comment” in the subject line or identify the number of the Agenda item on which you are commenting. City staff will read all email comments, provided that the reading will not exceed five minutes.
Proposal Process & Opportunit

E-Bike Rules and Municipal Code Proposal

Under current San Marcos Municipal Code (9.04.080 a) E-bikes/motorized vehicles are prohibited on City trails; see below for municipal code specifics.
The proposal to be discussed at the Jan. 13th Trails Advisory meeting is whether to allow e-bikes on San Marcos city trails. A YES vote would move the proposal forward to be discussed and voted upon at a future Parks & Recreation Commission.
To have your public input heard at the TAC meeting on the 13th, please email Andrea.Gonzalez@san-marcos.net with “Public Comment” in the subject line.
If the proposal does move forward, public input will be allowed at the Parks & Recreation Commission meeting as well. More information for public comment will be available if the proposal moves forward
Class 1: E-bikes that are pedal-assist only, with no throttle, and have a maximum assisted speed of 20 mph.
Class 2: E-bikes that also have a maximum speed of 20 mph, but are throttle-assisted.
Allowing E-bikes would not mean that electric scooters, mopeds or other devices with electric motors would be approved.
This proposal would also not change the speed limit on City trails. All e-bikes would be subject to the same regulations that non-motorized bikes are currently held to.

Dude, they have an awesome network of wide DG stroller paths. Watch out for cougars.

In checking Trailforks, I can't see any trails in that city (legal ones) so I wonder what trails they think thy have in their city? Paths are not trails but it's a city official after all...

The San Marcos Trail Advisory Committee will not read your comments here. But if you email them per the above instructions they will.

Trail map is here. Not really trails, paths.

https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.san-marcos.net/Home/ShowDocument%3Fid%3D1474&ved=2ahUKEwin_t_s8MzuAhVOCTQIHftLDY4QFjAAegQIAxAB&usg=AOvVaw1DAjNI2XTZM09agtO-wRNv

This would be a huge win for electric beach cruisers everywhere.

Dirtrider there are some real trails in SM. Frank's Peak trails, including all of the ones south of Franks and east of and leading to Questhaven - one is called Bowling alley I think, Double Peak trails, a few off of the north side of Double Peak by the HOA I can't remember their names, P Mountain. There's also a trail system north of Elfin Forest Rd by the town center, legit. Ebikes are bikes SM no issue.
