We rode yeterday. Not too muddy,
just the usual weepy areas. The bridges
are still underwater.
Carlsbad's 3rd party had a tractor on
Serpentine...............................
Is that the only trail that needs work???????????????????????

IDIOTS!

Don't worry about the construction guys, if you can get
across the spillway, you're fine.

We got to the damn and my son who is almost done with 1st grade and loves reading every sign he sees now read aloud the trail closed signs and then said he could not go because that would be breaking the rules.... lol

I obliged him because he is 6 and I want him to follow the rules at home as well. He is not quite ready to discern the differences.

Rode from the drainage ditch to techno up and down party, then up serpentine, over to water tower hill trails down to Sage Creek HS yesterday- all good. Stayed uphill as much as possible.

When the spillway overflowed in 2010 it scoured it clean and left a fun playground for a long time. Now the slow trickle has floated over all these dead cattails. Maybe this next storm will clean it out.

Damn, this stream crossing got destroyed. Thank you trail gnome Roger, aka Spotter, for carving some traction on the log. It took some finesse to get my pig of an e-MTB across. On the return trip I tossed on a bigger branch below for the bike to roll alongside on. Mo betta, but it’s no Clyde bridge.

That is the bottom of Bridge to ride right? Yeah I was there last week, what a mess. It was impassible when I was there.

Watch out for this rut! It’s right after the old trail crossing that separates upper Serpentine from lower. I came in a little over exuberant, tried to go high on the left, and that tree branch took me down.

Post subject:  Re: Calaveras Trails

oh man, I would not be surprised if some sink holes form or land slides occurs with the volume of rain we have had. I have been staying away from the trails myself just because I know they will be a muddy mess.

[sarcasm]It is a good thing The land managers from the City and State will be on it and repair all the trails........[/sarcasm]
