Why do you assume it's a trail runner? Hikers/runners seldom bother to touch trail tread since it doesn't matter to them as much, too easy just to step around the rocks.

Because there is a particular trail runner who is friends with Gabe the Gardener who has been caught multiple times modifying and destroying trails. He is aggressive and has not stopped after multiple interactions with those who catch him red handed.

My wife took our son there after school and let him walk on the spillway with a buddy of his from school. You could easily ride across it as it is not deep at all, and believe me I wanted to get my bike and do just that, but I know the hills will be weeping water and the single track along the lake has a number of low spots that puddle. I refuse to be part of the problem by leaving deep ruts in the mud. After the small storm rolling in tonight/tomorrow we should have a number of days of sunshine and dry weather to let the trails dry out. I am hoping to be back out there next Tuesday.

I imagine Serpentine being a rutted mess right now.

Depends on how many goobers go run and ride on it while it is super soft.

Goober #1 here.

Started at Sage Creek HS to “check trail conditions” at about noon today.

The road to the dam is blocked by mud at the gate.

The “wet spot” between the road and garden fence has a rideable line so I continued.

Mistake.

Everything S of the creek crossing is weeping. Most trails are now little creeks.

I will have to go out next week once water stops running everywhere and atone for my transgressions.

OBTW, if you’re worried about your e-bike in water, talk to the kid with the RC car…works as a mech at Charlie’s e-bikes in Encinitas. Obviously knows how to waterproof electrical stuff.

That same kid is in my photos up above running that same truck.

Thanks for the update. I was really temped to head out this afternoon once I finish work, but I will hold off.

Yeah, the lake has taken over the boardwalks.
It’s still pretty muddy and really torn up out there.

My son and I took the long way home from his school today. His school is right there on Tamarack by the Dam.

We checked out that section you posted, then rode around the park and back west on the boardwalks to check out the other side.

Anyone have an update?

No? Well today I do. The Skyhaven boardwalk across the creek is still flooded. Probably will be for weeks, since the valve that drains the lake won’t open.

Didn’t have time to check at Oak Riparian end but likely still a mess.

Gonna do a ride out there this afternoon with my son after school. If the construction crews are not there we might try to cross the dam and ride the south side of the lake.
