We'll ride it even after they pave it.

Sounds like a plan.

Is anyone able to get out to Calavera this afternoon once it dries out a bit to check on Serpentine? I am curious how much of that soil that was disturbed by the City Parks department has washed away.....

This weekend is a perfect time for volunteer trail work IF Carlsbad allowed volunteer trail work.

Do Trail workers have to bring their own D9 cat to trail day? Asking for a friend

Rode Calavera today. Trails were
in good shape. A little rutted, didn’t
realize it rained that hard.

Serpentine is in great shape considering.
A little tread work and it will be dialed in.

As far as trail work, we don’t need the city.
I’m up for a strike team during the week.

My work schedule does not really allow me to during the week. But I like the idea of a strike team.

We can do a strike team
on the weekend. After a rain.

Eh, didn’t see much in the way of new ruts. Serpentine had a section that suffered some, but it will get ridden back in. I kinda like ruts for the challenge, so you can all laugh the next time I fall in one, which will happen. Two things I noticed over on the DFW side:

We’re going to want a small bridge again in the gully here this winter. Anyone know if it just got tossed in nearby weeds in the summer? I might go look for it. And the downhill to that crossing has a deep-ass (or ass-deep) rut as we all know, but it’s still rideable for now.

Someone recently bermed out the upper section of this (don’t know what folks call it) connector trail — made it super fun in the downhill direction! Thanks whomever ya are.

Got to ride Serpentine Yesterday, I went really slow because my 6 year old was with me and it was his first time descending it. It did hold up better than I thought it would, so that is good. Still sucks that it is 10 feet wide now.

^^^ I rode that recently bermed trail again and loved the berm job again — super flickable, at least for me and my bike’s setup — but this time noticed what Kevin had said — holes in the trail where rocks were removed. Grrr. They weren’t in the berm section. They coulda — no, shoulda — left ‘em.

^^^ continued…so someone smoothed the dip in that rutted connector across the creek, which is fine with me since people of all abilities use that trail and someone could get hurt.

But now whoever has been removing rocks is doing it on this fun trail too. Without doing any other “improvements”. Those rocks were not in the way and did not slow down a competent rider as they did not interfere with a clean line. WTF!!

If anyone sees this Stravasshole please educate them.

We just rode Calavera today.
The rock removal guy needs to stop.
The rocks he moves are so random and
stupid. A lot of them aren't even close
to the riding lines.

STOP IT......................................

I suspect that the trail runner doing this is the same trail runner who is on a self-imposed mission to destroy all the trails out in CHER. He needs to be caught by the CDFW, Carlsbad Parks, whomever - and get prosecuted for his actions.

Why do you assume it's a trail runner? Hikers/runners seldom bother to touch trail tread since it doesn't matter to them as much, too easy just to step around the rocks.
