If anyone has time today, a couple spots in Calaveras could use some trail work ASAP!

Last night I decided to go for a ride and see how things were. I was very conscious about my tracks, etc, so I can say I did not cause any damage. (Olddogdan and Lostone can attest to how clean myself and bike were when finished)

However, other people both hikers and riders were not so conscious of their impact either earlier in the day or the day before.

The ground is mostly solid, but I think workable enough still to fix the damage caused mostly by hikers.

The area that can use the most work is the hill up from the double wide bridge. It was pummeled to death by a million feet trudging up a muddy wet hill. So anyone with a shovel and and rake could do some really good in that section.

That hill always gets wrecked, but it eventually gets knocked back down. It's so highly trafficked, I'd suggest it's a lost cause.

If you're going out there today with shovel in hand, consider berming up the switch-backs on the Prom hill by the high school. That trail could be so damned fun if those off-camber corners were shaped into fast bermed corners......

.....said the guy sitting behind a desk with no intention of getting out there today... :ninja:

Agreed that hill gets wrecked, but it's worse than I've ever seen it. (saying that from only being in Oceanside since 2008).

My thought is that it's a high traffic area with high visibility, so it's actually a good PR opportunity for Mtn Bikers, plus it's "Legal" trail.

............... said the guy who also probably wont get out there today. But I will try in the afternoon depending on my schedule.

Dept of Wildlife or someone else pretty much wrecked most of the jumps on the second left line coming off the pad towards the quarry, since Tuesday. Not sure about the bigger jumps below that. Drops and berms still seemed to be intact. Truck tracks all around the pad.

We saw a truck parked on the pad
this morning. Didn't head over to
see the damage.
Hopefully they will go away.

On another note, someone been putting
rocks in the trail. I've been noticing it more
for the last month, but today there is a lot
more happening.
I was off the trail today at one point because
of it.

Really noticed a step-up in the amount and size of rocks on the trails today too, even over by the tank. The only berm they screwed with on that run I mentioned is one with a small side jump coming out of it, kind of blew the exit a bit.
