If only we can persuade the politicians and land managers. Also to keep the lawyers out of the mix....

When freeways are listed as #3 and coffee shops as #4, you know it's a pretty weak argument.

Actually the freeways is the main reason I don't move back to the Bay Area. I love the bay area more than SD, but I hate being stuck in traffic more than I love the Bay. SD has the best freeways compared to anywhere I have driven in.

There are no Dunkin Donuts here, except one on Camp Pendleton. That's one thing other places have over SD.

I guess the tenth reason would have been our water quality, except for this:

San Diego's drinking water is the 9th worst in the country

I get Bird Rock at the bakery over here now and then. There's also a guy over in Rancho Santa Fe-ish. The problem I have with both of those is everything is beyond second crack. Usually French roast or even Vienna. Time for me to break out the popcorn popper...

There used to be one on Miramar.

I used to frequent Bad Ass coffee in PQ until the recent change in ownership. They've gone way downhill since that change. The last mocha I got tasted like nothing more than hot milk. I had to open the container to make sure it was at least brown colored.

From Rich.
Gotta say I agree with him....

"That was a joke! Really!!!!! The Best???? For Mtn Biking? I will bet you didn't know Chris Zirkle says SD has 200 miles of trail and MTRP 40 miles. If you believe that then you believe Carlsbad has 26 miles of trail. That article is one reporter on drugs. No question Pine Valley/Noble ( actually the same [place but the author separated them into two reasons. Just like he did when he said SD has good weather then separates it into two reasons with good weather and there are only 2 seasons. Big f----ing deal on the surf. Yeah go out at Blacks and compete for one wave with 15-13 other guys and tell me how much fun you just had. Crowds totally degrade the surfing experience unless you are in top shape and can out paddle the crowds. Hardly a reason to come here. If you want to have really good trails close and surf then go to Santa Cruz. There is a reason the big Mtn bike companies are up North."
Rich

Captain Buzz kill.... I enjoyed the article for what it was:a space filler from a Red Bull "journalist". I've lived here all my life, so nothing brought me here, but pieces of everything on that list have kept me here. I'll agree to a point with Rich about the surf, to get the best waves at the best breaks, you have to be a damn good surfer, but if you're an outsider and paddle out at steamer lane on a good day and expect to get a wave, you're probably going to have to fight a guy or two. We all know we're loosing legal trails at an alarming rate, but if you know where to look, there's a lot of really good riding out there still. Again, the article put a smile on my face...
