You might have to zoom in on this one.

To unknown guy with an axe: WTF! That logover was easy and fun. The gully right after it is the hard part!

To unknown guy with a cordless drill: Haha! That’s awesome and I applaud your stubbornness. Thank you.

PS: That poison oak!! Glad I wore long pants on the trails today.

I have not ridden up that section in a few months, but there was no fallen trees back then.... perhaps that is a pretty new fall?

There used to be a really big one that was cut open years ago.

^^^ No, it’s not Poison Oak Alley. I don’t know the name of this one. It’s just south of the big creek, and connects two of the trails that cross the creek. It doesn’t get ridden much and I was avoiding it lately because of the PO. But last time I rode it the log was intact.

I was also happy to see that someone spent some time blocking off a straight line short cut across a nice curve halfway down the fun run that starts right by that boulder in the clearing south and across from the pad. They did a better job than I did last time.

I saw this flyer in the weeds and fresh truck tracks at Stonehenge. I’m just guessing they are related. It made me suspicious but I did not see any junk dumped out there anywhere. For all I know these are fine people and provide a good service. I did not text it. But if you find anything dumped out there…

I need to do some of that work in Tunnels. Hadn't been thru there in a while, and found one of the more iconic trees in Tunnel 2 had been cut down (one at an angle, so your rear wheel would always skip sideways going over it). People suck!

I saw that as well on Tuesday when I rode out there along with those tire tracks.... someone was driving a truck out to those rocks for something.... Perhaps there was some rusty junk in the weeds they needed to remove.

Amazing that things happen out there all the time and nobody sees a thing. When in the world are they doing it?

whenever they want it would seem. CDFW only patrols the state land, and they do a really bad job at that. Carlsbad parks seems to be out there more than CDFW for the city land, and even then I rarely seem them, and we all know the back 40 - where this particular tree is - is not patrolled by anyone and is just a free for all.

I tend to ride Tuesday afternoons and tend to see 1 or 2 others out there across all the different land ownership. I could bring a shovel and do whatever I want and no one would see me in broad day light.

I am not surprised one bit that shady individuals are creating havoc on the trails for trail users and not getting caught.

Back before the sierra club was called in to put pressure on the state this would have never happened as there was much more trail traffic and some moron creating trail traps for others would have been caught and scared off.

^^^ I agree with your observations, although I have not seen any trail traps for quite a while. Instead I am seeing a dumbing-down of trail features to make them easier. I don’t know if this is the Strava effect we used to see back in the days of high MTB usage, or just a few misguided folks thinking everyone would appreciate them making the trails easier.

I used to think Black Mt was having someone dumb down the trail for whatever reason but I think it is just the amount of traffic they see. We have less area to ride, more people are riding, and I think rocks, etc get tossed to the side.
