It's amazing all these fried food eaters don't have more heart attacks. I live on garlic and sushi and my heart stopped just after 4pm today. The Ozark area has seen some bad weather of the worst kind the past week as you may have seen in Joplin, MO. How air can be that destructive is unfathomable! Being only sixty miles away from there is very sobering considering that the storm that did all that damage there just rained here. Today here in Tulsa the weather service was predicting similar weather to hit us tonight, high winds (80-110) and very likely tornados. Not sure how many of you reading this have listened to the news in the central states whom tell you that death is coming all day. All freaking day! By 5:30 tonight I was shit--ting my pants with images of what happened to Joplin and that it was coming here. Give me earthquakes any day; they're usually over before you wake up. Thunderstorms are even ok, some rain and a light show, yeah! TORNADOS?!! Oh hell no. When the national weather service texts you a tornado warning!!!! Holy Shit!

This is where I spent this evening with my head between my knees kissing my ass good-bye.Image

After the storm had passed, I changed my pants and went out front to watch this for about an hour.

Survived and thinking about packing up and heading back to Cali. Between the storms and Taco Bell being the best Mexican food around here, home sickness is setting in pretty bad.

Kansas's southeast corner got hit pretty hard last night. Where in Kansas did you live? Was under the assumption that Kansas did ribs. If I were to venture up to KS what steak place would you recommend? Do you know of any good places to get singletrack up there?

The lightning was going like that for a couple hours. It was a 360* show and sounded like machine gun fire! Coolest thing I've ever seen. The bird sound in the video is a Killdeer, the dumbest bird ever! They lay their eggs on the ground and then get super nervous if you go anywhere near them.

Thanks. You should have seen it in person!

This is what got me scared so bad at about 4:30. Knowing that this storm was on it's way was more than my little brain could handle. It took hours for it to get here and by then the adrenaline was so high that eating diner was outta the question.

I was just driving in to work on a beautiful sunny socal morning listening to the news about what's going on in the midwest. One of my first thoughts was "I'll gladly take earthquakes over that shit!".

I grew up in the North Eastern part of KS, and I will be back next week hopefully these storms will be over and done with by then. The best steak places are either at the stockyards or small bars (seriously) probably the same where you are. But KC has IMO some of the best BBQ ever! As for ST, mostly at state parks, check out the stuff near Lawrence. There is a growing gravel scene that is taking over the midwest, if you're a CX guy I would check it out.
