I'm heading to Minnesota and Western Wisconsin over 4th of July. I've been there before, they have some Amazing trail systems, all built by local IMBA chapters.

I'm bringing Woodie, because my last trip had me renting a Fat bike, where I found the trails are so well groomed/managed that a rigid 29er will work very well, especially during the summer.

Just hope it doesn't rain, as they are quite Nazi-ish about trail closures after rains. They really want it to dry enough to leave no ruts before riding.

I did almost miss this.

Tom, a great resource is MORC https://www.morcmtb.org/ This covers all the trail complexes in the Minneapolis area, which is where I got to ride while there. Additionally Trail Forks or MTB Project are of course good.

None of the places I rode were long "EPIC" days, they were all small centers that had well defined systems with different skill levels.

Due to where my in-laws live (south of Minneapolis) that's where I was mostly.

Outside of the trail centers, if you do want to do "EPIC" they have an amazing paved rail trail system that can take you as far as 70+ miles outside of the city.

In winter you probably don't need bug spray, but during spring/summer/fall, you better bring some!!!

One day I was riding the Minnesota River trail Surly was doing an In House Demo day (ie. Demo day for Staff) as they are local.

I don’t need an epic ride just someplace to pedal in a new location. Thank you
