I live just east of Black Mountain road on the hill overlooking PQ canyon to the north. Now that daylight savings is rolling around, I'm planning a weekly commute to Qualcomm in Sorrento Valley via PQ + Lopez canyons. I can get to work with the only pavement being a short number of residential streets by my house, and the LPQ canyon crossing at Black Mountain road.

I gotta do something mid-week as training to prevent serious bonk in the Archipelago ride next month. That's easily 2X my most epic ride to date, and I'm currently in lousy condition.

Biked at lunch today. :bang:
Work, (next to Palomar Airport) to Oceanside Harbor and back..... 24 miles.

I'd commute, but the Fallbrook roads aren't very bike friendly.

Really? I don't know which way you are taking. I have been commuting from fallbrook to escondido for about 7 years now and I have never really had a problem. Hell even my Gfriend commutes to the trek store in Vista sometimes for work. Well I will say I two olive hill home as there is less traffic than going from 76 to he high school on mission coming home.

Commuting home tomorrow, Tuesday August 2.....so if you have not done Wagonwheel up to Carmel Mtn Preserve come along. It is a dirt alternative to PQ canyon and some different stuff.

Going to ride past NOTB around 5:45

Wagonwheel to L. Waniea up to Carmel Mtn Preserve.....will do road/trail and a couple of singletracks up there, then drop a nasty downhill (crazy steep) to the SR56 bike path at Carmel Country Rd. Cross onto the DG path behind the homes heading east and will end up at Camino Del Sur near PQ somehow

^^^ Dang! I just read this today, and I don't have a bike at work. If I read this yesterday, I would have brought one to commute home with you. Dang!

Late notice, and it did not help that the post did not show up in "active topics". Next Tuesday (Aug 9th, 2011) it will be NOTB (5:45PM) to Qualcomm, Upper Rim trail, Lopez bushwhack, down CamRu, Trans-County, etc.....

Interesting... I'm trying to picture the lopez bushwhack but can't figure that out on the map. I guess I'll know how to do it next Tuesday. No guarantees, but I'll try to meet you at NOTB next tuesday. I'm a tall skinny old dude on a black ventana 29er.
