Ok, I'm not exactly sure what you think a "better" helmet would do, over what you call "light trail helmets". Your brain bounced off the inside of your skull due to a hard landing with a sudden stop. Nothing even a Moto helmet would've done to stop that. As far as I can tell from what you've posted, the helmet did its job.

Glad you're feeling better!

That helmet likely saved my life or at least let continue life in the state I'm.

I am in fact sending FOX a letter thanking them.

I didn't mean better as in a helmet that would prevent what happened.
I meant a helmet that is more than on use don't know for sure if there is such a thing. I may even just go with a full face helmet considering my face took a pounding.

But I might just be over thinking all this as well.

But I will not hesitate to buy another Fox Flux that helmet did exactly what it was designed to do and did it perfectly.

There is no such thing as a more than one use helmet, and if there is don't use it. Helmets are made to absorb the impact that your head would have taken. They are Jumping on the grenade sacrificing themselvs for your melon.... If you have crashed and hit your head and your helmet looks fine and you seemed fine... replace it.

Motorcycle helmets are expensive with the pretty ones getting in the $300 - $500 dollar range. If you read the instructions, they say if you even drop it, it needs to be replaced. I cried the first time I had to replace one but think about what you put in that bucket. Its a somewhat valuable thing to me lol

I replaced my helmet with another Fox Flux, the first one did its job well so I see no reason to change.

I though about getting a 661 Dirt Lid or similar for a while but it was hot just trying it on in the store. I can only imagine what it will feel like on my head in a month or so while out riding.

I'm also going to pick up a full face helmet, something along the lines of a D2 or similar. If I'm not mistaken the D2 is certified to DOT standards.

My head is finally back to "normal" if there is such a thing for me...
But if I bump it, its instant head ache. I bumped getting into the car Saturday and the resulting head ache nearly brought tears to my eyes and lasted a while.

I'm thinking Saturday though I'll do a slow, short easy ride in PQ from the east side to the waterfall and back.

It's killing me looking at my bike just sitting there with all this sun shine outside...

If you all want a chuckle if I could figure out how to do it I'd post up a Google Earth plot of my ride. I must have rode around the little rock island thing at the Mast TH 100 times and it had to pitch dark outside while I was doing it.

You can save your GE route map as a JPEG image and post it here.

BTW I bought a Flux last week (used my 20% off coupon at REI). Unfortunately I haven't been able to go out and use it yet and now I'm stuck in AZ for weeks on end :x

I picked up a new Flux at Bike Bling Saturday.
75.00. They didn't have the one I was after so I got a mat-black one.
Turned out that color was on sale.

Also picked one up for the GF but it wasn't on sale.

Almost got the Recon instead; but I'm kinda parti to the Flux now that it saves my grape.
