I remember somewhere along the way, I saw a quote that went something like, "Stupidity is not trying and failing, but trying the same thing over and over and expecting a different result."
After today's Down Town/ Balboa urban ride, I looked down at my shins and the song by Roger Alan Wade, "If you're gunna be dumb, you better be tough" comes to mind. A brief history:

Calaveras January 2009, went over the bars on a rock roll on the south 40, tried to bail and my pedal grabbed me and took me along for the ride
Image
Damage: 6 stitches and a cracked radius in the wrist. $60 in doctor/prescription co pay.
Lesson learned: Buy knee/shin guards

Beer run September 2010, jumped a curb wearing sandals, slipped a peadal
Image
Damage: 15 stitches. $112 ER/prescription co pay
Lesson learned: Sandals are not good riding foot wear

And today's Down Town urban, slipped a pedal screwing around on a block wall(shin guards sitting in the bike room)
Image

Damage: 9 band aids, and counting. $6.75 for said band aids, medical tape and napkins from a Shell station down town

Lesson learned:.........If you're gunna be dumb you better be tough

You have some carnivorous platforms, for sure. We need to find you some vegan ones. I'm glad we got you patched up and stoked you finished out the day with us!

Favorite Trails: crooked & winding...
I see you switched from DC shoes to Five Tens, which should have helped a lot in sticking to the pedals. You should now be able to switch from aggressive platform pins (allen heads or pointed pins) to flat-topped pins -- then if you do slip a pedal now & then, it won't do so much damage. With the Five-Tens I rarely slip even on the flat-top pins.
