So, my first ever sports injury that will require surgery...

I tore my UCL and will have surgery to get it fixed tomorrow. The web, I have to say, is not the place to find information to make you all fuzzy about the prospects for complete, let alone speedy recovery.

I'll go with my doc's input: surgery with 10 day immobilization then OT with majority of funtion expected to be regained after 6 weeks.

The details of my explots were posted here: viewtopic.php?f=20&t=5964

So, I'll be joining the gimps and limping and with work obligations this will put me off the bike until October. I am majorly bummed as my dreambuild is lingering in the garage until QS, RHS and I will be able to give it proper TLC to put the pieces into a working unit. The hand is first...

Anyone have experience with this kind of injury? Sounds like I have the Stener lesion... [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stener_lesion]

You gonna get any "workers comp" at home?

Just kidding, but I'm not sure you'll even get to ride your dream bike. Well, at least you've got a few months to smooth things out :domo:

October!? That is brutal. I cannot imagine your pain.....going from the excitement of hitting new Arizona dirt to the low of being off the bike for months.
Great opportunity to shower the wife with attention :)

THat sucks Andy!

On the bright side, there is no (good) riding in Ohio(?), so aside from your current month plans its no big loss. By the time you get back you'll be ready to cruise!

Bummer Andy!! Sorry to hear. I'm suffering some UCL stuff right now but that would the the UCL of the wrist, not the thumb. Never seen this injury before - try to get in to see a OT who is a certified hand therapist post op - those guys know their stuff!

Good luck in surgery tomorrow, healing vibes.
