I think I am cursed. January was a fractured kneecap at Noble. Memorial Day weekend was a broken elbow on Bernardo. Last weekend I clipped a rock with my bars at Anderson and did a pile driver with my head and left shoulder. Hopefully I am only out for a few weeks this time, but my PT found something seriously wrong with my shoulder today. I am hoping it was a slight dislocation that she popped back in, but she thinks it might be a torn rotator. All I know is that this is getting old and I have to buy my third helmet this year now. |

Yikes! I know the one time we rode down Nascar, I had to get out of your way and let you pass..... In any case, heal up and stop hurting yourself! |

Best of luck with shoulder diagnosis and recovery! Maybe three in a row like that signals a need to dial it back a little...but it's so hard to dial back the enthusiasm and dial up the judgement as you get older. Someone on DT said something like this: Young guys bounce, old guys splat. I've ben trying to keep that in mind after two broken bones in less than a year. |

I end up falling when I dont wear them. The POC vpd 2.0 feel like you are pretty much wearing nothing at all once they warm up a bit. No discomfort, no slippage. Heal quick, hope for the best with the shoulder. |

I bit the dust after coming around the corner near the bottom at dusk. I over reacted, banging up my knee. The kicker? I had my pads in my backpack Anyways hope your shoulder isn't too jacked up. |

Sorry to hear about that. Good luck with your shoulder. I jacked my right shoulder up about a month ago, nothing as bad as what you describe. It is getting better but it takes a while. It hurts most at night since I am a roller. |

I had my pads in my backpack I was out riding calaveras with Ozzer about a month ago and busted my knee open on a rock when I couldn't unclip on a tip over... My knee/shin guards were in my car. That's when I realized that I should get some pads I don't mind wearing and are comfortable all the time. |

It should be a a prerequisite for DT, you have to of had at lest one good dirt wipe-out. Sounds like everyone would still be here. I bet you can tell many fellow mbter, just by looking at the scars on their calves. |

Thanks for all the well wishes. I have been changing stuff around on my bike which always leads to issues for me. Wider bars and shorter stem. It was the wider bars that I am not used to that got me. Just clipped the lock-on at the end and did not even get my pinky! PT is helping and I am hoping I will be back on the bike sometime next week. We'll see what the shoulder specialist says on Monday. |

In an odd coincidence, I grabbed a magazine in the "reading room" earlier, and it said this on the spine: "I've never broken three helmets in a year... until now." Bike Magazine, November 2011. |
