Well…here’s an update that so far is a lot like Aaron’s story. Sunday and Monday spent taking it easy in the recliner, yeah, I did have one glass of a Russian River RnD and it was delicious. Had a follow up phone appointment with my longtime family doctor, who wrote a couple Rx and warned me to look out for any changes in condition. Tuesday seemed about the same. Took an afternoon nap and woke up to intense chest and shoulder pain, called 911. At TriCity they did x-ray & CT, transferred me to Scripps Trauma Center in La Jolla, where they diagnosed hemopneumothorax and immediately put in a chest tube, and drained a liter of blood. So here I sit two days later, chest still draining, and doing painful breathing exercises to prevent pneumonia. Dirty Boo was behind me on the trail — she said I bounced! Feels like she might’ve beat me with a baseball bat! But I can get up and walk occasionally. It ain’t fun but could have been a lot worse. Cheers DT’ers!

Smart to call 911. This will all work out, hang in there. Healing vibes.

i don't know if this will help you out, and take it how you want, but i recently had an issue were my shoulder was in so much pain it literally brought me to tears in the middle of the night.
no crash, no injury that i can recall, just woke up one morning and it was F'd!
i would wake up damn near screaming every few nights and the wife just wasnt happy (turns out she REALLY needs her beauty sleep).
because of this, my sleep cycle was also shot, i was literally getting about 1-3 hrs of sleep every 24-48 hrs.
everyone told me that my rotator cuff was blown and i would need surgery.
i sh!t you not, the pain was so intense, i thought my life was over (probably one of the darkest moments in my life so far).
well, im here to tell you that prayer works and God is good!
i prayed and prayed and prayed, and about 3 months (of intense pain) later, the pain is literally gone.... without surgery.
i wont lie, i've lost about 10% dexterity/mobility in that arm, but the pain is literally gone.
again, prayer works. i'll be praying you bro!

Holy smokes Dan, so glad to hear you are getting better! Hope you heal up quickly, and with the minimum required amounts of pain.

I’m feeling okay, but I’m still in Club Med, working the respiratory exercises in order to avoid surgery. This place is okay, and the locals are friendly, but there’s no beer!
No word on my parole date.

Ufft.

Yeah, man. Keep at the breathing exercises and do laps around the hallways if you're able. You'll get out soon.

Sending positive vibes your way!

I have beer and I’ve seen “One Flew Over…”

Give me an address and maybe we can take a “day trip”!

My kids and wife made fun of me the last rehab event.

They took turns “walking the Dad”.

^^^ Damn, that is hilarious Roger! What a classic movie scene! I appreciate the offer, but no one wants to see my old ass in a hospital gown. Rick walked me around this evening, but he’d already seen that view when he and Dale busted me out of the Hemet ER on a Saturday night twelve years ago. That place was a zoo.
Also, he smuggled in a tiny bottle of Willett bourbon. It’s good to have friends.
