I rode in the Stagecoach Century back in April in Ocotillo. It was pretty much middle of nowhere. Mostly rolling road with a few good climbs to break up the monotony. I think in the 100 miles, there was 4000ish' of climbing. It was a bit of a drive, but nice not to worry about a ton of cars and motorcycles like I deal with along Lyons Valley area of EC.
I was checking that route out a bit, looks like a good change but driving out there is the bummer. Somewhere out there is a good 7-10 mile climb that is basically not driven by cars, or so I hear.
I'm considering the death valley double in spring. I've never been to death valley and what a better way to see it than schlepping yourself along on a bike from pre-dawn to post-dusk.
