It’s been a really good Tour this year, even though it became clear a while ago that Tadej Pogacar was going to take it again as long as nothing went wrong (and anything can). If you haven’t been watching, consider tuning in tomorrow morning, as there’s a better-than-good chance that Mark Cavendish will make history in the final sprint finish on the Champs Elysses by breaking Eddy Merckx’ longstanding record of 34 stage wins. Eddy was there yesterday when everyone thought it would happen and gave Cavendish a big hug before the start.

Cav’s interview after stage 4 was one of the best/most genuine.

There’s been a surge of Eastern Europeans in sports in recent years. All the -ics (phonetically, itches) in soccer, the NBA and cycling. I enjoyed the aggressive riding of Mohoric to win two stages.

Been a while since there was a close fight for the GC win…

^^^ Yeah, it is disappointing that so many people aren’t interested if there’s not a real GC battle, or if there’s not an American in contention. I was explaining to my son-in-law, who is a big B-ball fan, how there is so much more to the Tour than he thinks, in terms of individual and team efforts and strategies, and what a huge deal aerodynamics is, such that it dictates behavior.

I feel the minor frustration with those that don’t ‘get it’. Comes down to walking a mile in others shoes.

Really takes people to have first hand experience with cycling (road or mtb) to understand. Been road riding with my sisters husband for years, he finally convinced her to go on a short bike path ride late Spring 2020. Don’t think she’d ridden a bike since we were kids. She now crushes 40 mile road rides and understands the nuances of tactics/moves of road riding/racing.

I think we are just trying to sit things out we have been through a lot. The tour is stressful. Give us some time to figure it out

Riding: Dirt > Road.
Watching: Road > Dirt.

Today was one of three or four days a year that I regret selling my road bike. I was a roadie for 13 years before switching to mountain biking but I never lost my love for watching road racing, especially the TdF.

I was hoping that Ld00d was going to turn off commenting for Belgians. Don't you have some French fries with mayo to eat? Seriously, though WvA is a beast - there's nothing that guy can't do.

I know you all are tubeless ready but I have seen too many wheels fail in these races the last one was on a BWR video side wall leaking. Sad remember to carry a tube

Based on the many wet spots on the tubeless tires indicating punctures sealed during the ride, they seem to work as intended. However, inner tubes offer another layer and more puncture protection than just tires. I bring a tube and tire bacon just in case.
