Do you just want the older bikes or it doesnt matter? Im thinking about getting rid of my Fuji Roubaix 1.0 (2010) for around that price. Ever since I got my mtb, my road bike didnt get to see a lot of miles.

Btw im 5'10 and I ride a size 54.

If you can wait a little while, the prices will go down as the temp drops. Maybe rent a road bike to get the right fit frame wise, and just to see if you are going to like it, dodgeing cars that is. I bought the wrong size frame on my first road bike. I wish I had rode a couple of sizes before I pulled the trigger.

I suggest going to the bike shops and trying out a few different sizes to figure out what size you are since it's way different than mtb sizing.

Once you figure out what size you are, troll craigslist and also see what deals are coming from the local shops.

Best to wait a month or so and things will go on sale to make way for the 2012 bikes coming in October.

here's the order of shimano components: 105, ultegra, dura-ace

dura-ace is the best = to XTR

Ultegra is next = to XT

105 is = SLX

Find a decent bike with at least 105 components.

Once you have your bike, please pay the extra $ to get it fitted properly to you. Sitting on the saddle in the same position for long rides can make a poor fitting bike hurt you (back, knee, neck).

Hope this helps.

btw, Tiagras are not that bad either, they are basically passed down technology from ultegra a few years earlier.
