When I lift, I occasionally take a NOx supplement. Works great and I can usually pump out 3-4 extra super sets compared to days when I don't take it. It seems to work great for any anerobic activity where relatively short bursts of 100% effort are required.

With MTB, I see instances of this in some terrain say Sycamore canyon. But how would NOx supplements be a detriment to extended periods of 100% effort, say climbing from Borrego Springs to Sunrise Highway?

I personally wouldn't take anything that increases you heart rate while doing any aerobic activities. Your body will be doing twice the work it needs to complete the climb/ride.

The NOx supplement I take is called NoXoN. It was developed by a biochemist in Chula Vista and is only available in certain stores. Absolutely no caffeine. Never get the gitters either. The first time I took it, I did so just to see what the effect would be without working out.

I immediately felt stronger and hella motivated to go do something, but my heart rate didn't really go up more than 10 bpm. When I have coffee, my HR usually goes up 20bpm. I see your point though. Why take something that raises your heart rate when exercise does the same thing.
